Protected by the impenetrable Black Gate and watched over by the ever-burning Eye of Sauron atop Barad-dûr, this land of shadow and flame serves as the Dark Lord's stronghold. From the desolate plateau of Gorgoroth to the poisonous fumes of Mount Doom, this forsaken realm holds the key to Middle-earth's destiny, where armies of Orcs gather and dark plots unfold beneath the watchful gaze of the Dark Tower.

Before Sauron cast his shadow over Middle-earth, a far greater power shook the very foundations of Arda. The mightiest of the Valar fell into darkness, stealing the Silmarils, corrupting Elves into Orcs, and unleashing Balrogs and dragons upon the world. From the depths of Angband, this fallen Ainu waged war against Elves and Men, forever changing the fate of Beleriand and earning the name 'Black Foe of the World.'

Carved into the banks of the River Narog, a magnificent underground fortress-city stood as the greatest hidden realm of the First Age. Founded by the wise Finrod Felagund, this mighty stronghold housed thousands of Noldorin Elves, witnessed the tragic tale of Túrin Turambar, and safeguarded powerful secrets beneath its countless halls. Yet despite its concealed bridges and impenetrable gates, neither the power of its Elven-king nor the valor of its warriors could prevent its ultimate destruction when the great dragon Glaurung brought fire and ruin to its depths.

A shimmering elven Ring of Power worn by Galadriel, Nenya — the Ring of Water — was forged in the Second Age by Celebrimbor from a pale metal and set with a bright stone. Its gentle magic preserves and protects Lothlórien, keeping the woods timeless, hiding its people from Sauron, and helping Galadriel, the Lady of Light, maintain gardens, visions, and the Mirror. Rising from the depths of the Great Sea, a star-shaped island kingdom gifted to the noble Edain by the Valar themselves became the mightiest realm of Men in all of Arda. For 3,319 years, the Dúnedain of Westernesse built gleaming cities, mastered the arts of shipcraft and lore, and extended their influence across Middle-earth—until pride, fear of death, and the whispers of Sauron led to their catastrophic downfall. This paradise of the Faithful, home to great kings like Tar-Aldarion and Tar-Minastir, would sink beneath the waves in the greatest cataclysm since the drowning of Beleriand, forever changing the shape of the world.

Seven princes stood in the torchlight of Tirion, their swords raised to the stars, as they bound themselves to an unbreakable vow that would shake the foundations of Arda itself. In their quest to reclaim the stolen Silmarils, these sons of the greatest of the Noldor pronounced words that would lead to kinslaying, warfare against Morgoth, and a doom that would echo through the ages of Middle-earth. This single act of pride and vengeance would forever alter the fate of Elves, Men, and the very course of the First Age.

On the mirrored waters of Cuiviénen the Elves first opened their eyes, marking the Awakening that would change Middle-earth. The Valar heard and argued over their fate, Oromë discovered them, and Melkor's shadow touched their early days. The summons to Valinor and the Great Journey split the Eldar into those who would seek the light and those who would remain, beginning a long tale of friendship, exile, and longing that echoes through the Years of the Trees and all later histories.

Their fateful decision would forever change the fate of Beleriand and mark the beginning of the greatest tales of the First Age.

Before there was anything, there was Eru, the One. He created divine beings called the Ainur from his thought. Eru taught them to make music, and together they performed a Great Music. From this cosmic symphony, a vision of a world appeared. This vision was given life by Eru's secret fire, creating the physical universe, known as Eä. However, one of the most powerful Ainur, Melkor, introduced discord into the harmony. His selfish and jarring notes created evil in the world. This clash between the beautiful themes of Eru and the harsh sounds of Melkor set the stage for all the conflicts to come in the history of Arda, the Earth. Some of the Ainur chose to enter this new world to shape it and guide it, becoming the Valar and Maiar, the guardians and powers of Middle-earth.

A thunder of war and the Valar's might smashed the lands of Beleriand: fire, flood, and earthquake tore coasts and mountains apart. The homes of the Noldor and Sindar, the halls of Gondolin, Nargothrond, and Doriath, and the strongholds of Men and Dwarves buckled under Dagor Bragollach, the Nirnaeth, and the final War of Wrath against Morgoth. Seas rose, islands formed, and wide tracts of earth sank beneath the waves, forcing survivors to flee to Lindon, Eriador, and the Havens while songs, kingships, and languages were broken and remade. The tale shows how a single cataclysm ended the First Age and reshaped the map and future of Elves, Men, and all who remained.

Before the Ages of Middle-earth truly began, the Valar crafted celestial wonders from the last remnants of the Two Trees. From Telperion's silver flower came the gleaming Moon, while Laurelin's golden fruit became the radiant Sun. These luminous vessels, guided by Maiar spirits across the skies of Arda, marked the end of starlit darkness and heralded the awakening of Men in the East. Their creation forever transformed the face of Middle-earth, setting in motion the great tales of the First Age and beyond.

Ancient crystalline spheres of Elvish craft, brought from Númenor by Elendil himself, these powerful seeing-stones allowed kings and stewards to communicate across vast distances and peer into distant lands. While seven were gifted to the realm of Gondor and Arnor, their use proved both blessing and curse - particularly when the Dark Lord of Mordor bent one to his will, forever changing the fate of Middle-earth.

A silver serpent-crowned heirloom, forged in the First Age of Middle-earth, passed down through generations of noble Men from the House of Bëor to the Dúnedain kings. This ancient token of friendship between the Elven-lord Finrod Felagund and the mortal hero Barahir became a sacred symbol of the undying alliance between the Firstborn and the Edain, eventually reaching the hands of Aragorn, heir of Isildur.

In the fires of Eregion, Celebrimbor and the Elven-smiths forged the greatest artifacts of the Second Age: nineteen rings of immense power. But Sauron's deception led to their downfall, as his creation of the One Ring in Mount Doom threatened to enslave all ring-bearers.
